Evidence based practice There is a new web-based database available for occupational therapists to support evidence-based practice. It is called OTseeker (Occupational Therapy Systematic Evaluation of Evidence) and is now freely avaliable at
Currently the contents of OTseeker is only avaiable in English. The database currently comprises abstracts and quality ratings of over 1000 randomised control trials (RCTs), and abstracts of systematic reviews relevant to occupational therapy. We hope it will also be of use in teaching and research.
Because the database is in its infancy there are only a limited number of abstracts and practice areas currently available. This will increase over time as we locate and appraise more trials and obtain copyright permission.
The database is being developed by Dr Kryss McKenna, Sally Bennett, Professor Jenny Strong, Dr Leigh Tooth and Tammy Hoffmann from the University of Queensland, Australia, and Annie McCluskey from the University of Western Sydney.
